Every year boaters from around the area decorate their vessels with lights and holiday memorabilia and parade up the river and along the boardwalk throwing goodies to the children. The last boat of the parade is reserved for a special visitor from the North Pole and the night is ended with a awe-inspiring firework display.

Other attractions include face painting, a vintage car show, a visit with Santa, and holiday entertainment. And ’tis the season for shopping… so visit the many exhibitors who offer holiday foods and unique keepsakes and shop among the downtown stores who stay open late during the event.

How it all started….
The event began 20 years ago when a group of neighbors on Beardslee Lake showed off their decorated boats in celebration of the holiday season.  Then, 8 years ago this neighborhood competition was opened to the community and soon became a countywide festival.

Today, the Moss Point Active Citizens (MPAC) organization continues to organize the event with the support of community donors. Every year Christmas by the River continues to grow and get better and better.
